Looking back

This morning as I sit here at the family computer, and truthfully for the last few weeks, I have been looking back.

I have been looking back at the remarkable journey God has take my family on over the last 4 years, and in particular the journey God has brought to my life for the last 7 or 8 years. Most people that knew me growing up and
especially during the time of life from 18-32 years of age would never guess that I do what I do. "A minister?????????" would be the response you would get from folks who remember.

But you see, I hold on to this,

For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength.
Take a good look, friends, at who you were
when you got called into this life. I don't see many of "the brightest and the best" among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn't it obvious that God
deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these "nobodies" to
expose the hollow pretensions of the "somebodies"? That makes it quite clear that none of you can get by with blowing your own horn before God. Everything that we have—right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start—comes from
God by way of Jesus Christ. That's why we have the
saying, "If you're going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God." 1 Corinthians 1:26-31 (The Message)

For the majority of my life, I wanted to be someone famous, someone who was known all over the world. I remember saying that by my 10th high school reunion I would be "a star." Well, that did not happen. And today I am glad. The life that I have lived has been full of experiences, and places and jobs, and people that most do not get to see, or do, or meet. But the thing that I count most wonderful, is the joy of being called CHILD!
"God has smiled on me, He has set me free..." I can hear my dear brother Chad singing this song, and I cannot sing this song without either
tears or a huge smile on my face.

All that I am today,GOD has made me. All that I hope to be, GOD
will make me, all that I need,GOD will supply I am just a simple man, who loves FATHER, family, and friends.
I am thankful for my beautiful bride, and both of my children for they way that they reflect Jesus into my life.
I am thankful for my Prayer-Warrior Mom, my Dad, and the
growing relationship with my Brother.
I am exceedingly thankful for Chad, David, Marcom, Ken H.,
Wendell, and all of the men that GOD has placed in my life to grow me through areas.
I am thankful for Ethan who is a blessing as a friend and fellow laborer.
I am thankful, that the prayer uttered 15 years ago, alone in a bedroom was answered in such a dramatic way. All because, God has smiled on me, He's
been good to me.

Praise God today as we prepare to gather with those who walk beside us now,as we gather this weekend let us look outside ourselves
and see Jesus in our brothers and sisters.
